Andy Rzeznikiewicz, Sanctuary Manager of the
CAS Center at Pomfret and the adjoining 700-acre Bafflin Sanctuary, recently banded an intriguing warbler. It looks as if it has characteristics of a Blue-winged Warbler and Lawrence's Warbler, a hybrid of Golden-winged Warbler and Blue-winged Warbler.
Andy has found Lawrence's Warbler in the area in the past. Our Bafflin Sanctuary has a high number of breeding Blue-winged Warblers so it is not too surprising to find hybrids among them. What do you think of this bird?
